During this period the BF repair brigade will replace step by step the furnace equipment with new ones, from the bottom to the top. |

Only the Gas Ducts and the Inclined Bridge will remain the same, but they will be modernized. Electrical, Weighing and Instrumentation sections of the Blast Furnace will be modernized as well.
Mr. Anatoliy Melnichenko, Head of Bureau of the BF Repair Workshop of Ilyich Iron & Steel Works said, that half of the repair period, 36 days, is over.
During this period the workers of BF Repair Workshop, the Workshops of Chief Mechanical Engineer and Chief Power Engineer have erected the cover of the non-cooled portion of the Furnace and the cover of the blast furnace top of 128 tons weight, replaced the circular platforms on the stack and access platforms (from the elevator to the Furnace).
The workers of piping department erected the manifolds of the Evaporating Cooling System of the Blast Furnace. The supply pipeline of make-up water of 530 mm diameter has been erected, and the separate pipelines of the Evaporating Cooling System are being erected now.
The drainage pipelines of 800 mm diameter are under erection now.
But most of the resources are engaged on the critical works. They are works at the bottom of the Blast Furnace. The saw of 200 tons weight has been removed from the Furnace. Unlike the previous repairs, the saw was not removed through the top of the Furnace, it was cut on pieces of 30 tons weight, and these pieces were drawn by block and tackles (of 30 tons capacity) through the openings in the bottom hearth.
The units of the hearth cover, the furnace and the tuyere area of 180 tons total weight were erected. The bosh casing was erected as well.
Today the repair men started erection of the cooling plates of the hearth and lining of the non-cooled portion of the Furnace.
The works are executed according to the Schedule, technical and management resources are looked for to expedite the completion of the repair.
