 Chemical Metallurgical Plant (former Donetsk State Chemical Metalurgical Plant) entered OSC "Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol" in 1999, whereupon the Works began an intensive reequipment of the plant. In 2001-2002 several departments were put into operation at the plant, such as a department for high technology production of secondary zinc out of zinc dross, a secondary aluminium production shop, departments manufacturing welding electrodes and building materials. In addition the plant has production possibilities for:
- rare earths powder manufacturing (e.g. zirconium powder);
- ferroalloys manufacturing on the basis of rare earths by means of out
of-furnace methods;
- iodide refining of titanium and hafnium raw materials;
- rare earths ingots manufacturing by means of electron)beam refining
(e.g. niobium ingots);
- polycrystal and monocrystal silicon manufacturing, the latter being the
main constructional material used in electronic engineering.
